Selected by Asako Shiroki
Sunday November 1st, at 19:00
Location: Hypnos Theatre
Norra Grängesbergsgatan 15, Malmö
As part of the opening weekend of Perch – Touching Distance at Cowgirl Gallery, artist Asako Shiroki has selected Memoria for a screening at Hypnos Theatre.
The first English-language film by Palme d’Or-winning director Apichatpong Weerasethakul stars Tilda Swinton as a Scottish woman in Colombia. After being disturbed by a mysterious, powerful sound, she embarks on a sensory journey that leads her into the Colombian jungle.
With its attention to sound, Memoria invites us to listen closely and question the relationship between what we perceive and what we can explain. The screening extends Shiroki’s exhibition into the cinema, exploring the questions of perception and memory that run through her work.
