Kent Chan in conversation with Qu Chang
Join artist in residence Kent Chan for an evening of films and performance from his Future Tropics series of work premised upon a fictional future global tropics. The series began in 2020 with works spanning films, performances, writing, and installations that seeks to explore the tropics in the future tense and what happens to cultural demarcation in a world where climate demarcation no longer exists. The event will include the films Future Tropics (2023) and Solar Orders (2024), followed by the performance lecture Casting Weather (2026). The latter is a compendium to the titular work of his solo presentation, Weather Casting currently on view at Künstlerhaus Bethanien. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with Qu Chang, curator of discursive practices at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW).
