Trip Description: Lorna and Dick will take you by tram to four locations at the Refuge to search for birds and other wildlife while describing the history of this first National Wildlife Refuge in the U.S. Among the most productive areas is “Jungle Bird Pond,” a shallow freshwater depression located at the center of the refuge.
Trip Duration: 2 hours
Walking distance: 0.2 miles
Degree of difficulty, and any special instructions: Easy walking. Consider applying insect repellant and wearing long-sleeved clothing, as biting insects can be a nuisance on warmer mornings.
Meeting Location: Restroom parking lot off A1A (11455 Jungle Trail, Vero Beach, FL 32963); Note: turn off A1A at Jungle Trail, not Wildlife Way.
