Join Trees Atlanta and Dr. Megan Mucioki, Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences & Indigenous Studies at Emory University, for a guided field trip to Lake Charlotte. We'll explore Atlanta's urban forest through the lens of forest foods stewardship and harvesting.Together, we'll discover how many of Georgia's native trees have long nourished both people and wildlife. You'll learn about the cultural and ecological significance of species like persimmon, pawpaw, hickory, and oak, and how they have (and might) contribute to biodiversity, food security, and our community well-being and resilience.
Whether you're a gardener, forager, tree enthusiast, or simply curious about the deep historical connections between people, food, and forests, you'll leave with a fresh perspective on the abundance growing right here in Atlanta's urban forest
