FIELD NOTES
Summer Workshop Exhibition
An evening celebrating art, ecology, and community in the Rockaways!
Join us for the Field Notes Summer Workshop Exhibition, celebrating a season of creativity, exploration, and collective learning at Valé EcoLab!
Throughout the spring and summer, Field Notes brought together artists and community members of all ages to explore the unique coastal ecology of the Rockaways through hands-on art and science workshops.
From experimenting with natural dyes and coastal plants to investigating soils, sound, and the living environments around us, participants discovered new ways of understanding and caring for the places we call home.
This exhibition brings together the artwork, experiments, and discoveries created by our community.

About Field Notes
Field Notes is a public art and science program led by Valé, a Latinx-led, eco-centered art and design organization based in Far Rockaway. Through free, intergenerational workshops, the program brings artists, scientists, and community members together to explore local ecosystems through creative experimentation and collective learning.
By weaving together art, science, and the living ecology of the Rockaways, Field Notes creates opportunities for curiosity, environmental awareness, and community connection.
About Valé EcoLab
Valé EcoLab is a community-centered creative space in Far Rockaway where art, ecology, and technology come together. Through free workshops, youth programs, artist collaborations, and community gatherings, we explore art as a form of advocacy, care, and connection to our coastal environment.
Support
Field Notes is made possible with support from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), Flushing Town Hall and Chashama.
We are grateful for their support in expanding access to community-centered art and ecological learning in the Rockaways.
Come celebrate what we've created together!
¡Nos vemos pronto!
