About this Event
As the U.S. continues decades of sanctions and new attacks against Cuba, we, the American people, declare that Fidel, like Martin Luther King Jr., is a revolutionary who guides our imagination in the 21st century. We believe that the Cuban people, new men and women created by a heroic struggle against slavery, colonialism, apartheid, and imperialism, show us that there is a way out of the American political, economic, and civilizational crisis. We reject war and follow the footsteps of Afro-American leaders such as Harry Belafonte, Henry Winston, Reverend Calvin Butts of Abyssinian Baptist Church, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and Reverend Lucius Walker in knowing and learning from Fidel and the Cuban people.
Join us in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Comandante Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz. There will be a photo exhibit, documentary world premiere & discussion, and community dialogue with a representative of the Cuban people.
