Join spoken word artist and poet Kim Rosen in an uplifting immersion in the revelation, music and poetry that flourishes when we turn toward aging, death and letting go. Kim has been drawn to the mystery of death since she wrote her first poem about it at the age of seven. Since then she has held friends and family members in her arms as they took their last breath, and practiced the art of turning toward the many daily deaths that abound in a life fully lived.
This evening, Kim will explore opening to loss as a portal to freedom with the support of spoken poems from many beloved poets—Langston Hughes, Ellen Bass, Marie Howe, Lucille Clifton, and Mary Oliver—interwoven with recorded music that moves from powerful rhythms to prayerful stillness. This offering is a culmination of her love of the realness and intimacy that arises when we turn towards all levels of letting go.
KIM ROSEN, MFA, author of Saved by a Poem: The Transformative Power of Words, has awakened listeners around the world to the power of poetry to heal, connect and disarm individuals and communities. She is a poet, spoken word artist, ritualist, and guide of inner exploration. She is also the founder of the S.H.E. College Fund for Maasai Girls.
