A magical Christmas experience for the whole familyStep into a Christmas experience unlike any other and discover Father Christmas waiting amongst the ancient books of Peterborough Cathedral’s historic Library.
Your adventure begins as you make your way towards the Cathedral Library. Follow the atmospheric route, climb the steep, spiral staircase and, when you reach the top, knock on the great Library door…
Open the heavy door and you’ll find Father Christmas waiting to welcome you.
Inside, the Library will be transformed into a warm and magical Christmas setting, with twinkling lights, traditional decorations, lanterns, Christmas trees and beautifully wrapped presents, all carefully designed to complement the historic surroundings.
Father Christmas will spend time with each family, chatting with the children, hearing about their Christmas wishes and sharing a special Christmas story amongst the books. There will be plenty of opportunities to pause and enjoy the atmosphere of this very special and rarely seen Cathedral space.
This is not a traditional grotto. It is a Christmas experience that celebrates the magic of Father Christmas alongside the history, architecture, and atmosphere of the Cathedral. All children will leave with a special gift from Father Christmas.
Accessible Experience
We want everyone to be able to enjoy Father Christmas at the Cathedral. If you are unable to access the session via the spiral staircase, an accessible option is available allowing families to enjoy the experience together. This takes place in the Cathedral’s New Building on selected dates.
Please book using the separate event on our events page.
