About this Event
TWO RECORDS.
ONE MARRIAGE.
TWO SIDES OF WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE TRUTH CAME OUT.
FAMILY FEUD brings Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Jay-Z’s 4:44 together for a new edition of The Listening Room.
An evening about betrayal, anger, vulnerability, accountability, forgiveness, family—and what happens after trust has been broken.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TRUTH COMES OUT?
The story surrounding Beyoncé and Jay-Z may be the entry point, but the questions inside these records are much more human.
What do we do with betrayal?
What does accountability sound like?
Can honesty arrive too late?
And what does repair require once the truth has been spoken?
Lemonade and 4:44 approach those questions from markedly different positions. Heard together, they become more than two personal records. They create a conversation about relationships, family, responsibility and the difficult space between damage and repair.
THE MUSIC
BEYONCÉ — LEMONADE
A record moving through suspicion, anger, hurt, identity, self-worth and reconciliation.
Lemonade refuses to reduce betrayal to one emotion. It allows rage, grief, pride, vulnerability and the possibility of repair to exist within the same story.
JAY-Z — 4:44
A different perspective: admission, vulnerability, accountability, family, legacy and confronting the consequences of one’s actions.
Where Lemonade examines the experience of being hurt, 4:44 wrestles with responsibility for causing that hurt.
Together, the albums allow us to hear two sides of a relationship crisis through two deeply personal bodies of work.
THE LISTENING ROOM
The Listening Room gives records the space they deserve.
The experience brings together intentional listening, album storytelling, guided conversation, shared cultural memory and community.
The albums are the starting point for a wider conversation about relationships, accountability and repair.
This is not a Beyoncé or Jay-Z concert, tribute show or album battle. Neither artist is appearing or performing.
