Come to the KoKo Lot for an Free family day at the KoKo Lot! Donations are appreciated but not required. Compete in our Improv Sculpture Building Contest at the Koko Lot.
Family Play Day:
12pm – 3pm: Enjoy open lot time and free play at the KoKo Lot! Explore kid-built creations, check out our rainwater collection system, look for cool bugs, and more! Use of tools will be limited to the sculpture contest (see below). All ages are welcome, but are required for anyone under 18, and kids must be accompanied by an adult. This is NOT a drop-off event.
KoKo Sculpture Contest for the entire Family:
11:30: Registration to be part of the KoKo sculpture contest (teams can be 3-6 people including kids)
12pm – 1pm: Building Time
2:30pm: The audience will make noise for the sculptures – the loudest audience contribution wins a surprise box.
In the Weeds Exhibition at the KoKo Lot:
All Day: In The Weeds, a group exhibition at the KoKo Lot, builds on Lauren A. Pirie’s living soil sculpture A Lower Horizon (2025, worm and NYC city compost, mulch, sand, biodegradable textile, thread, various native herbaceous plants), which she installed in 2025 as artist in residence at KoKo Lot. Artists will include Florencia Escudero, Lauren A. Pirie, Lydia Goldbeck, Sarah Davidson, Shay Salehi, and Wei. .
Food from Heritage Foods:
12pm – 3pm: Kick off the fall season at Heritage Foods with a BBQ featuring Newman Farm, Parma Sausage, Tempesta Artisans, and Cesare Casella! Food tickets required.
About visiting the KoKo Lot:
- The KoKo Lot is FULLY OUTDOORS.
- Please be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toed, durable shoes.
- There will be port-a-potties on-site for bathroom use.
- Please bring a pre-filled water bottle and snacks in case you get hungry while at the KoKo Lot.
- The KoKo Lot is nut free.
The KoKo Lot is located at 440 19th Street (between 8th Avenue and Prospect Park West), Brooklyn.
