The Albemarle Symphony Orchestra presents a concert of sublime music with a cheeky little twist.Local performer and educator Ethan Wagner will play the glorious Elgar cello concerto, probably the most beloved of all. Then, the full orchestra takes on Brahms’s second symphony with some of the most beautiful melodies you will ever hear. In fact, the basis for his famous lullaby can be heard in the exquisite second movement. The overture to The Thieving Magpie (“La Gaza Ladra”) is one of Rossini’s most popular standalone performance pieces and full of fun and mischief, as well as great brilliance.
The performance takes place in Grisham Hall on St. Anne’s Belfield campus. The concert is free, fully accessible, and open to all.
