Ever wonder why trees change color? Take a leisurely walk to admire the dynamic fall colors while learning how trees are responding to the changing seasons. Beginning in the center of the arboretum by the ponds, hike up the south hill to the overlook and view fall colors from on high. Here, your guide, Plant Physiology Professor Emeritus, Peter Davies will explain the function of fall leaf colors and share how plants are preparing for winter. Walk back down to the ponds along the north path, strolling through the maple collection. Observe the various colors this species exhibits and learn more about their chemical nature. Walks will be held rain or shine; please dress appropriately for the weather. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
Fee: $12 general admission; Free for Cornell Botanic Gardens Access Pass holders and Cornell Students.
