WHO & WHAT:

Come just to sing along, come to listen if you're shy. Lead a song if you're bold or if you're shy, all are welcome. Please especially come lead a song if it's your first time! :) The idea is really just to sing together, teach and learn.
SONGS: Sea shanties is the prompt, but Erie Canal shanties, (Cayuga) lake and pond shanties, nautical ballads, songs about the sea even if they're by the Beatles, other call & response songs, work songs, songs with a soaring chorus, even the occasional (gasp!) round. The vibe is "singing together loudly**" :)
**we are "big tent:" to welcome all singers, with any amount of experience in this tradition, we support the loud and clear teaching of the choruses prior to each song, and strongly welcome the sharing of a song's deep oral history & tradition, while also not being strict on the definition of shanty.
