About this Event
Join Save Orange Hills birders Rita, Mike and Gale for a full-on Fall Bird Walk. We'll learn about bird facts, birding resources and the latest on the progress of saving the 400 acre wildlife corridor that connects Irvine Regional Park to Peters Canyon (go to SaveOrangeHills.org). Then we'll meander through the sycamores, oaks, native shrubs and around the cacti to see a plethora of amazing scurrying and flying feathered gems. Some birds will be migrants that are here only for the winter, others will be year-round residents. Be ready for a good time with an unknown adventure. All ages welcome.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Easy. Roughly 1.5-2 miles round trip, depending on interest of group. Minimal elevation gain with a few small slopes and stream banks to navigate. Mix of sun exposure and shade. Frequent stops for birdwatching, listening and photography. Mix of terrain, including paved road, manicured lawn, stairs, streambed and dirt single-track. Suitable for beginners, families, photographers and experienced birders.
WHAT TO BRING: Binoculars (if you have them), camera or phone for photography. Walking sticks or hiking poles for uneven terrain. Plenty of water and food to enjoy along the way. Appropriate clothing for anticipated weather and temperature conditions. Sun protection.
PARKING: $5. Meet at Parking Lot Q - See Park Map.

WILDLIFE & NATURE NOTE: We will always do our best to find, observe and interpret the wildlife and natural activity highlighted during this experience.
