About this Event
Fairouziyat (فيروزيات) is more than a concert. It is an intimate evening inspired by the timeless music of Fairouz, songs filled with love, longing, joy, memory, and the feeling of home.
On Sunday, November 8, 2026, we welcome you to Soumak Boutique, a small hidden gem nestled inside the Kids Market on Granville Island, for a warm evening of beloved Arabic songs reimagined through voice, qanun, and live rhythm.
Together, we will revisit songs that have lived in the hearts of generations, songs such as نسم علينا الهوى، أنا لحبيبي، نطرونا كتير، سألوني الناس، وراجعين يا هوى, presented with a fresh and intimate musical feeling.
Performed live by:
🎵 Rasha Youssef is an alto singer from Syria whose voice is deeply rooted in Arabic music. She developed her voice through choral singing at the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus and continued performing in Syria and Canada. Rasha sings from a place of deep, honest emotion, her voice carries a prayer-like quality that allows every melody to be felt, even when the listener does not understand the words. In some songs, she will also sing while playing the riq (الرِقّ), adding a gentle Arabic rhythm to the music.
🎵 Ravshan Tukhtamishev is an accomplished musician and master qanun player from Uzbekistan. He formally studied music and the qanun and performed with an orchestra in his home country. His playing is delicate, expressive, and deeply moving. He does not simply play the melody, he allows the qanun to speak, carrying each song with beauty, sensitivity, and emotion.
Together, Rasha and Ravshan create a heartfelt conversation between voice, qanun, and rhythm, honouring the spirit of Fairouz while giving the songs a gentle, contemporary fusion.
You do not need to understand Arabic to enjoy the evening. Come to listen, remember, discover, and sing with us if you know the songs. If you do not know them, simply close your eyes and feel the music.
As part of the experience, enjoy Turkish coffee prepared slowly on hot sand, along with tea, offered in the spirit of warmth and hospitality.
