This event is part of our Faculty Reading Series and will celebrate their most recent books, A.F. Mortitz's The Wren (coming out in April 2026) and Karen Solie's Wellwater. The readings will be accompanied by a Q&A session and light refreshments.

About the Speakers
A.F. Moritz's most recent book, Great Silent Ballad (2024), received the Al and Eurithe Purdy Poetry Prize, and his previous one, As Far As You Know, was shortlisted for the Trillium Award. This spring he will publish a new book of poems The Wren, and Eternities, his translation of Eternidades (1918) by the great Spanish poet Juan Ramón Jiménez. He is currently a professor emeritus at Victoria College.
Karen Solie is the author of six collections of poems. Her most recent, Wellwater, won the UK's Forward Prize for Best Collection, the T.S. Eliot Prize, The Governor General's Award for Poetry, and was shortlisted for the PEN Heaney Prize. A 2023 Guggenheim Fellow, Karen teaches in the autumn for the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and spends the rest of the year in Canada. She is the 2025-2026 Shaftesbury Creative Writer-in-Residence at Victoria College.
