About this Event
This event takes place during Maths Week England on Tuesday the 17th of November and is the twelfth of MathsWorld London's year long programme of monthly evening talks and events.
Fractals are some of the most beautiful shapes in maths and the natural world, with some unusual characteristics. We'll look at how fractals can be formed and explore some of their more mind-boggling properties, before you construct your very own fractal pop-up cards to take home.
Samantha Durbin (she/her) is a maths communicator who finds joy in sharing her favourite bits of maths and helping others to share theirs. In her “spare time”, she is part of the organising committees for Maths Week England and Talking Maths in Public, a network for maths communicators of all types.
Visitors will have the opportunity to arrive from 18.15 to explore the ground floor of MathsWorld before entry to the upstairs talk area opens at 18:50. The talk will begin at approximately 19:00, lasting approximately until 20:00, with the centre closing its doors at 21:00.
