About this Event
Established in 1940, the ten-acre Regional Parks Botanic Garden is a "living museum" of native California trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses from plant communities throughout the state. Our walk will take us through seacoast bluffs, coastal mountains, interior valleys, arid foothills, alpine zones, and deserts. A lot of ground to cover in one morning!
Did you know urban parks are one of four types of greenbelts that increase resilience to wildfires? Learn more about these approaches here: A New View of Greenbelts.
Total Distance
This is an easy walk with some stairs and narrow paths.
Cost
Free; Reservations required.
Where to Meet
We will meet at the Botanical Garden entrance.
The Botanic Garden Main gate, parking lot, and restrooms are at the intersection of Wildcat Canyon Road and South Park Drive in Tilden Park. Meet inside the main gate near the Visitor Center. The address is 1550 Wildcat Canyon Road.
If the parking lot is full, there is additional parking along Anza View Road, about 100 yards west of the parking lot. You can enter the Garden through the West gate on Anza View Road, and make your way back to the Visitor Center from there.
Notes
Dress in layers and wear good walking shoes. Dogs are not allowed in the garden. If you have questions about this outing, please email Ken Lavin at [email protected].
