On Thursday, 15 October, OSCAM opens its newest YOAK (Young OSCAM Art Kitchen) exhibition, Sense of Belonging, the first solo exhibition of Ghanaian-Dutch photographer Ebenezer Ackah.
In analogue portraits, Ebenezer explores the space between alienation and connection, and the strength of people who find their place in multiple worlds. Through texture, light and colour, he brings the duality of bicultural identities into view: hardness and softness, shadow and light, sensitivity and strength.
The portraits explore the tension between who people are expected to be, who they actually are and where they feel at home. The monochromatic blue symbolises both alienation and calm, while creating space for curiosity, reflection and conversation.
Sense of Belonging is part of Young OSCAM Art Kitchen (YOAK), OSCAM’s platform for emerging makers to develop their practice, present their work and connect with new audiences.

Op donderdag 15 oktober opent OSCAM de nieuwste YOAK (Young OSCAM Art Kitchen) tentoonstelling, Sense of Belonging, de eerste solotentoonstelling van de Ghanees-Nederlandse fotograaf Ebenezer Ackah.
In analoge portretten onderzoekt Ebenezer de ruimte tussen vervreemding en verbinding, en de kracht van mensen die hun plek vinden in meerdere werelden. Met textuur, licht en kleur brengt hij de dualiteit van biculturele identiteiten in beeld: hardheid en zachtheid, schaduw en licht, gevoeligheid en kracht.
De portretten verkennen de spanning tussen wie mensen geacht worden te zijn, wie ze daadwerkelijk zijn en waar ze zich thuis voelen. Het monochromatische blauw symboliseert zowel vervreemding als rust en biedt ruimte voor nieuwsgierigheid, reflectie en gesprek.
Sense of Belonging maakt deel uit van Young OSCAM Art Kitchen (YOAK), het platform van OSCAM voor jonge makers om hun praktijk te ontwikkelen, hun werk te presenteren en verbinding te maken met een nieuw publiek.
