About this Event
How can researchers engage effectively with Parliament and influence policy? What does this look like in practice?
In this session, Dr Andrew Russell, Reader in Environmental Science and Policy at QMUL and Director of the Environmental Change and Communities Research Centre, will share insights from his current secondment as Thematic Research Lead for Climate and Environment at the UK Parliament. Drawing on his experience, he will discuss how Parliament operates in practice, how research informs policymaking, and what makes engagement effective.
The session will also highlight opportunities such as the Thematic Research Leads (TRL) scheme, with the next round expected in 2027, and explore how researchers can contribute to policy more broadly, including through engagement with government and parliamentary processes.
This is a hybrid event, with options to attend in person or online. There will be time for Q&A and discussion, and coffee will be available for those joining us in person.
