Spend an evening exploring color, texture, and the beautiful possibilities of painting with wax alongside Cedar Rapids artist and arts educator, Michelle Fischer. In this class, Michelle will introduce participants to encaustics, an ancient painting technique that combines warm beeswax, and colorful pigments. Layers are fused with heat to create luminous surfaces, rich textures, and depth. It’s a chance to try something different while learning from an artist with strong roots in our local creative community.
Michelle has been involved in Iowa’s arts community for many years, both creating her own work and helping others develop their creative practice. Her artwork was featured in the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art’s Into the Blue exhibition, and in the Dubuque Museum of Art’s juried Biennial exhibition. She has also served on the board of the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio. Michelle has taught at the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy as well as Prairiewoods, sharing her knowledge about exhibiting, selling artwork, and building a career as a visual artist.
Cost is $35. Spots are limited!
