Curious about the luminous, tactile world of encaustic painting? This beginner‑friendly workshop invites you to explore the magic of creating vibrant mixed media collages using thin, translucent layers of encaustic medium. Tracy will guide you through the process of embedding papers and fabrics into wax, building depth, color, and atmosphere in ways unique to this ancient technique.
You’ll learn how to incorporate expressive mark making throughout your layers, experiment with encaustic texture, and discover how wax can transform simple materials into richly dimensional artwork. The warm, hands-on nature of encaustic makes this workshop perfect for anyone eager to try something new, play with mixed media, or expand their creative toolkit. Supplies are not included in the workshop fee. A PDF supply list is available in the workshop description.
All levels are welcome. Come explore, experiment, and create something beautifully your own.
NOTE: For all administrative questions—such as registration issues, cancellations, or workshop attendance—please contact Arlene’s directly. Instructors are not responsible for handling these matters. You can reach us at [email protected] or call during store hours at (518) 482-8881.
Our courses are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's.
