On Wednesday 4th November 2026, Menturia Lodge Armed Forces Lodge, will hold the Ceremony of the Empty Chair. We will also be joined be Phillip Hope, who will be delivering the famous Bomber Harris speech from 1942.In the week of Remembrance, we pause to honour those who served and did not come home, and every Brother who has passed to the Grand Lodge Above. A single chair is set apart and left empty. It stands for those absent from our meetings, and for the debt we owe them.
For a lodge whose members have served across the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force, this ceremony carries particular weight. Many of us know the names behind the empty chair.
