There are some albums where, after just one listen, you can tell: this is something special. *Wearing Words*, Emily Wittbrodt’s new album, released in 2026 on the impressive Belgian label Futura Resistenza, is one such rare discovery.
The Cologne-based cellist, composer and singer effortlessly blurs the boundaries between classical, pop, improvisation and chamber music, crafting a universe of her own in which every melody and every word falls carefully into place. Language takes centre stage on *Wearing Words*: songs that emerge from sound, rhythm and meaning, as fragile as they are powerful.
With Sandro Hähnel’s soft, almost genderless voice, Wittbrodt’s compositions take on a moving expressiveness. Think of the lush emotion of Rufus Wainwright, the vulnerability of Anohni, and a subtle Baroque grandeur that nevertheless sounds entirely contemporary.
Cello, piano, synthesizers, accordion, clarinet and refined arrangements blend together to create a rich, dreamlike listening experience in which a sense of wonder is never far away. Music that unfolds slowly, yet lingers in the mind for a long time to come.
For those who love discovering new musical worlds: let yourself be carried away by one of the most intriguing albums of the moment and experience *Wearing Words* live. A concert that will leave you speechless.
This is a Liveurope concert, the first European initiative that supports concert venues in promoting emerging musical talent from Europe.
