If you’re leading from your head, shift into the power to your body.
About this Event

A day-and-a-half of embodied leadership, dance and movement at International House, UC Berkeley, where leaders practice presence, courage and connection.

Different ways of moving through the world. Different cultures. Different identities. Different bodies. Different perspectives. One shared practice, together, becoming more courageous, connected, resilient and alive.

WHO : Catalysts in Motion is for professionals and changemakers who are leading through mental load, uncertainty, conflict, change, or burnout and who want to become more resilient, present, adaptive to change, and powerfully effective

WHAT : Catalysts in motion isn't a passive and informational leadership training. It is a place to move, practice and embody it.

WHY : Leadership Begins With How We Show Up In Our Bodies

We live in a time of extraordinary complexity. Many of us are being asked to hold more, respond faster, navigate deeper differences and continue leading while our emotional, mental and relational resources are increasingly stretched.

An embodied leader is a resilient leader.

An embodied leader is a connected leader.

And yet:

There is no correct body type for leadership.

There is no correct way to move.

There is no single way to participate.

Movement might mean dancing, breathing, gesturing, speaking, listening, witnessing, imagining, rolling, resting or simply being present.

Catalysts in Motion is therefore not simply leadership development.

It is resilience training.

It is capacity building.

It is a practice ground for courageous human leadership.

HOW: Through dance, somatic exploration, movement, mindfulness, reflective dialogue, creative practice, music and genuine human connection, participants explore getting out of our heads and learning to live, move, and lead more fully from the body.

HOSTED BY : One of your guides is Dr. Victor Pineda, an internationally recognised disability-rights leader, author, and global advocate who has spent much of his life challenging assumptions about ability, participation and leadership.

Victor lives with a severe disability, and his presence within this work brings an important truth into the room: embodied leadership does not require a certain kind of body. It is for EVERY body and it breaks through every perceived limitation.

Your other guide is Douglas Drummond, an highly experienced facilitator and embodiment teacher who has spent more than 15 years working at the intersection of movement, leadership, reconciliation, belonging and human relationship.

Douglas is a certified 5Rhythms® teacher, and his work helps people move beyond talking about presence, courage and connection into actually experiencing them.

ARTISTS : The workshop will also be supported by live music from the incredible Sanga of the Valley and Nick Ayers.

Sanga brings more than five decades of experience as a master percussionist, including 25 years performing with Babatunde Olatunji and collaborations with artists including Carlos Santana, Nina Simone and the Grateful Dead. Nick Ayers is a musician, dancer and sound practitioner whose work explores the relationship between rhythm, embodiment, listening and wellbeing.

Get out of the limitations of your head and come back into the freedom of your body.

Come as you are. Move as you are. Lead from there.

We Are All Catalysts in Motion

Every human being carries the capacity to create movement, inspire transformation and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.

It is about what becomes possible when mind, body, heart and spirit align in courageous action.

Resilience can become leadership.

Presence can become power.

Vulnerability can become connection.

Difference can become collective intelligence.

We move from isolation to belonging.

From reaction to choice.

From limitation to possibility.

From passive observation to embodied action.

Because strategies don't change the world. Embodied leaders do.

Become a Catalyst in Motion and sign up to join us for $320 for the full workshop Saturday and Sunday, Nov 14-15th
