This November, during Native American Heritage Month, join American Indian Cultural District (AICD) and Haines for a screening of Elevating Untold Stories & Native Resilience Through Art & Placekeeping in Yelamu, a documentary film honoring the cultures, histories, lived experiences, and resilience of Indigenous peoples in Yelamu (San Francisco).
Produced by AICD as part of the Mapping Genocide Project and broader Indigenize SF Initiative, the film centers Native perspectives to examine whose histories have been celebrated and memorialized in San Francisco’s public realm—and whose have been erased. At the same time, audiences are invited to reimagine the future of Yelamu through an Indigenous lens, creating space for community dialogue about representation, truth, and healing.
This screening is presented in conjunction with the exhibition , presented by AICD at the San Francisco Public Library's Main Library, on view through January 21, 2027, and , a group exhibition at Haines on view through November 7, 2026.
At Fort Mason's Landmark Building D, AICD presents a series of public art installations by Native artists—murals by Jewelina Acosta and Brittany Burrows, and sphere sculptures by Edward "Redbird" Willie and Drew Valencia.
