About this Event
The start of our fresh new series of Educator Workshops: Bookmaking for the Classroom!
There are so many ways that handmade books can brighten up learning in the classroom. Students can make nature journals in science to draw and record observations and research on plants and animals . They can fold zines that they write poetry in or have as a math toolkit. They can make a timeline book of California history that they create pages for throughout the year and then bind at the end of the year. They can make class meeting journals that they reflect in each week about topics discussed together. The options are endless. In this course we will be focusing on handmaking books out of upcycled materials, a skill which you can bring back to the classroom for a whole variety of projects.
All materials are provided for this course, and all skill levels are welcome. This course is specifically designed for teachers. If brought into the classroom for students to learn to do, it is best for third grade and up. However, if you'd like to make a book for your class to just look at as a resource, it is suitable for teachers of all ages.
This workshop is FREE for teachers! But space is limited, so please register to secure your spot, and cancel your registration if you can't make it!
