Join Linda Jackson on October 10, 1:00-4:00Give new life to tired clothing and fabric.
Learn to set up your own dye pot with flowers/plants you grow or forage.
Learn which flowers, weeds & plants create color.
Learn to use mordants & tanins to fasten dye to your fabric.
I’ll have two dye pots: One with marigold dye and one an indigo vat set up outside. Marigolds provide a beautiful yellow dye while Indigo provides a classic blue. If the weather isn’t cooperative, we’ll have a second surprise dye pot inside.
Bring a piece of clothing (a shirt or blouse) or fabric that is a natural fabric such as cotton, linen, silk or hemp. White, beige or light color will accept dye. (Note: Synthetic fabrics will not accept the dye.)
Be sure your pieces are washed & clean. The dye pot will include the necessary mordants to create a steadfast color. Please bring a plastic bag to easily transport fabric home as they will likely be damp.
We’ll have fun. We’ll learn. We’ll gather as community for up cycling, recycling and renewing tired fabrics into fun color from my backyard.
Cost $25 you can signup on Square here: https://square.link/u/YMCOvQjr
