About this Event
Latin Americans Stand with Palestine and Parents for Palestine Stoke Newington come together for a Latin American Remembrance Day honouring Palestinian Martyrs and beyond - an afternoon of crafts, music, stories and shared food.
Honouring both living ancestral Andean and Mexican traditions of remembrance, we will remember the martyrs of Palestine, Lebanon, Latin America and beyond, alongside all our departed loved ones honouring and celebrating their lives.
Together, we’ll create a shared altar of remembrance. Bring a photograph or meaningful object, and something they loved—a flower, food, toy, poem, song or small offering to celebrate their spirit.
We invite you to bring a dish, fruit, cake or snacks for our shared offering and meal.
The Old Church will sell drinks.
Programme
- 3pm: Welcome, mask-making and crafts—imagine your own animal spirit guide, inspired by Mexican alebrijes
- 4.30pm: Stories and music—children and adults are welcome to share a song, poem or memory
- 5.30pm: Share food
This is a free event.
If you can, we would be very grateful if you can make a donation. The donations will help cover the costs of the event, support The Sameer Project (a mutual aid project in Gaxa) and support The Old Church.
