Nationally recognized Abstract Expressionist artist and Fayetteville State University professor Dwight Smith has published a 140-page book spanning fifty years of his creative work. The book, REVELATIONS: A Survey of Paintings, Drawings and Collages, contains over 85 color plates and figures. Edited with an introduction by Bamidele Agbasegbe Demerson, former Chief Curator at the African American Museum & Library at Oakland, California. Contributions by artists Willis Bing Davis, Bamidele Agbasegbe Demerson, Dwight Smith, Shirley Woodson, Soni Martin, and Desmond McFarlane.
For over five decades, artist Dwight Smith has articulated a holistic vision grounded in African artistic traditions, advancing a practice that underscores the restorative and cultural continuities within African American art. Shirley Woodson
