Black Art Library Opening Weekend

Founded by Asmaa Walton in 2020, Black Art Library began with a collection of just seven books and a vision to preserve, celebrate, and expand access to Black visual art history. Today, the Detroit-based nonprofit is home to a growing collection of more than 1,000 books, exhibition catalogs, artist monographs, and rare ephemera, serving as a vital educational resource that connects communities to the legacy of Black artists through research, education, and public engagement.
