About this Event
Drawing Workshop: Vincent van Gogh-Inspired Landscapes
In this workshop, you’ll explore expressive landscape drawing through the distinctive mark-making of Vincent van Gogh. Inspired by his energetic drawings of fields, trees, paths and countryside, Eva will guide you through creating landscapes using pencils and inks.
You’ll experiment with lines, dashes, dots, hatching and repeated marks, discovering how different types of mark-making can suggest grass, trees, earth, sky and distance. Rather than focusing on perfect outlines or realistic detail, you’ll look at how rhythm, direction and density of marks can bring movement, texture and atmosphere into a drawing.
Working from landscape references, you’ll begin with loose pencil studies before experimenting with the bolder, more graphic qualities of ink. The session encourages you to loosen up, observe the landscape differently and develop your own vocabulary of marks.
By the end of the class, you’ll have a series of expressive landscape studies full of texture, movement and character, inspired by Van Gogh’s distinctive approach to drawing.
All materials are provided - just bring yourself and curiosity!
