About this Event
Drawing Workshop: Robin in Colouring Pencil
In this workshop, you’ll explore the art of drawing with colouring pencils, creating a detailed and characterful robin. Inspired by the colours and textures of this much-loved bird, Eva will guide you through building your drawing gradually using layers of colour.
You’ll experiment with blending, layering and different pencil pressures, discovering how colouring pencils can be used to create soft feathers, subtle shifts in colour and finer details. You’ll look closely at the robin’s distinctive markings, learning how to observe shape, proportion, texture and colour without getting caught up in making every detail perfect.
Working from photographic references, you’ll begin with a light pencil sketch before gradually introducing colour and building up depth through layers. You’ll explore how different colours can be combined to create richer, more natural tones, while using directional marks to suggest the softness and texture of feathers.
By the end of the class, you’ll have created your own colourful robin drawing, as well as learning colouring pencil techniques that you can continue to use for birds, wildlife and other subjects.
All materials are provided - just bring yourself and curiosity!
