About this Event

Join in with this exploratory drawing session with exhibiting artist, Elisa Alaluusua, on Saturday 3 October at 2.30pm at the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2026 exhibition, in the Buoy Store at Trinty Buoy Wharf.

Be inspired by the 92 drawing on show in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2026 exhibition and enjoy this unique opportunity to draw at Trinity Buoy Wharf in a drawing session led by Elisa Alaluusua, an award-winning artist and an experienced artist-educator, working with sketchbooks, making works on paper and using moving image as integral elements of her drawing practice.

Elisa Alaluusua's drawing included the exhibiton is of embroidered fabricand made with graphite on paper (150 x 150cm, 2026) and titled, From Her Hands to Mine. Elisa says of her drawing: "About a hundred years ago, my great-grandmother Alina made beautiful textiles by hand in the village of Pelkosenniemi in Finnish Lapland. She was the first schoolteacher in the village, a well-respected figure in the community, and a keen craftswoman who loved passing on her skills to the next generation. My mother vividly remembers Alina never idle, her hands always busy with stitching and embroidering. A few years ago, I was given a treasure-trove by my aunt, full of delicate items by Alina. Handling them a hundred years later brings me close to the great-grandmother I never met."

Drawing materials will be available but please bring along a sketchbook and pencils. Suitable for 16+. The session runs for 1.5 hours, please gather in the exhibition before 2.30pm, as the session will start promptly.
