Location: Ulster University, Belfast campus, Illustration Gallery Space- BA-00-016 (Directly opposite the Art Shop in the Foyer).
Drawing Inequality is a thought-provoking exhibition that brings the realities of health inequality in Northern Ireland to life through illustration, visual storytelling and creative research engagement.
The exhibition opening will take place on Thursday evening and includes:
- An opportunity to view the exhibition and meet the artist
- A 15-minute artist talk at 7.00pm
- Informal discussion
- Access as part of Belfast's Late Night Art programme
Drawing on previous research and engagement with community groups, healthcare professionals, and public-sector partners, the exhibition uses illustration and visual storytelling to make complex issues around health, place, and inequality more accessible and relatable.
Visitors will encounter a series of illustrated works exploring how social, economic and environmental factors can influence our health and wellbeing.
Rather than presenting health inequalities solely through statistics and reports, the exhibition asks audiences to consider the people, places and lived experiences behind the numbers.
The event will also create opportunities for conversation and reflection, encouraging visitors to consider how health inequalities affect their own communities and how creative approaches can help communicate research, lived experience and evidence to those involved in shaping healthcare services and policy.
The exhibition is suitable for the general public, community groups, healthcare and public health professionals, policymakers, local government and third-sector organisations, as well as anyone interested in health, wellbeing, inequality or the role of art and illustration in communicating social issues.
No prior knowledge of the subject is required.
