Dr. Ryan Kimmet joined The Harley School as Head of School in July 2025. He brings over 20 years of experience in independent school education, marked by a deep commitment to fostering exceptional learning environments.
Prior to Harley, Dr. Kimmet served as Head of School at Elmwood Franklin School in Buffalo, where he led significant growth in enrollment, financial stability, and endowment. His extensive background also includes roles as Associate Head of School at Greene Street Friends School in Philadelphia and various teaching and administrative positions at New Canaan Country School in Connecticut.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kimmet has been a dedicated advocate for equitable education, notably through his involvement with the Horizons Student Enrichment Program. This aligns with Harley's commitment to providing access and opportunity for all students.
As a Harley alumnus, Dr. Kimmet embodies the school's guiding principles of “Joy in Learning” and “Become What Thou Art.”
He holds a B.A. in English from Skidmore College, an M.A. in the Teaching of English, and an M.Ed. in School Leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys playing guitar and spending time with his wife, Leah, their children, Trey and Posy, and their dogs, Linus and Otis.
