Clowning Around in Sri Lanka
In the height of monsoon season in Sri Lanka, a clown steps off a plane, and an adventure begins.
Landing in a new and very foreign country, award-winning clown Ania Upstill realized that they knew very little about the place they had arrived. They were there to teach and perform, but what would they learn? Not surprisingly .... a lot. Through travel, cultural exchange, and asking important questions like "what is that and can I eat it?", and "Why is Fur Elise Playing?", Ania came to a deep appreciation and deep(er) understanding of Sri Lankan history and culture. Now they are back to share what they learned, in this clown's take on a classic teacher-turns-student, West-meets-East traveler's narrative.
Combining narrative storytelling and comedic physical performance, Ania takes their audience along on a journey of delights, delays and discoveries as they eat, pray and, yes, clown their way around Sri Lanka.
Serpent Woman
After her recent divorce, a woman suffers a panic attack and feels something strange inside her… a serpent she manages to expel into the toilet. What follows is a fierce struggle that reopens old wounds and sends her on a journey through madness, memory, and transformation.
Content Awareness: depictions of panic attacks and mental distress, references to abortion and postpartum distress, alcohol use, knife violence, and references to self-harm/suicidal ideation.
