Documentary Screening: Does Beauty Matter?

Overview

A red carpet screening of the Telly Award winning documentary Does Beauty Matter?, plus a panel on the future of the beauty profession.

Does beauty really matter?

On Thursday, September 17, LEAD | ROLFS Global Institute Powered by L'Oréal brings its documentary "Does Beauty Matter?" to the Mesa Community College Performing Arts Center for a red carpet screening and VIP experience.

The film asks why beauty professionals are still so often seen as providing a service rather than practicing a highly skilled profession, and examines the cultural, economic and human impact of the people behind one of the world's most dynamic industries. It explores beauty through education, innovation and cultural influence, and includes testimonials from LEAD graduates along with insights from Francis Tesmer, CEO of ROLFS Global. The documentary was recognized with a Silver Telly Award in the Social Impact category.

What to expect

The evening begins on the red carpet, where guests can meet and connect with beauty industry leaders, educators and innovators. A VIP reception follows with hors d'oeuvres, curated drinks and a VIP gift experience, before guests move into the theater for the screening.

After the film, a panel discussion looks ahead at where the profession is headed and how higher education, technology, entrepreneurship and changing consumer expectations are reshaping it.

On the panel

Francis Tesmer, Founder and CEO, LEAD | ROLFS Global Institute Powered by L'Oréal

Dr. Krista Fabrik, Beauty and Wellness Director, Mesa Community College

Scott E. Lewis, Professor of Strategic Leadership, Northern Arizona University

Julie Sagoskin, Editor in Chief of Park Magazine and fashion and lifestyle reporter at The New York Post and The Sun
