DeadNote found his way into electronic music during the first wave of dubstep, and his sound remains rooted in dark, weighty atmosphere, mixed with that grime crossover energy and the steppy groove of UKG. At he core of his selections is rhythm — sometimes restless, pushing and pulling in multiple directions, sometimes slow and lazy in a way that feels almost resistant. From that foundation, he has built a style that is less about genre and more about feeling, tension, and movement. He’s all about getting lost in the smoke of the dance floor and creating somewhere for others to do the same. Sometimes it’s about putting the crowd in a space, other times it’s about throwing something up in their face, either way it’s always designed to get inside their head.
DeadNote is also co-founder of Gothenburg-based DJ/event collective Bangers & Mash, and sound system Big Bauta Sound. Since launching in 2021, the crew has built a name within Sweden’s bass scene through DIY events, heavyweight sound system sessions, and lineups that bring together international acts and Scandinavian artists.
His latest release, Badman Style, came out on Sapyens Records and points toward the next phase. After honing his sound on the dance floor it’s time to put his stamp on the music too. With a number of projects in the pipeline, get locked in to hear that mix of different styles come together on his upcoming releases this year as he prepares to make his mark on the scene.
