About this Event
Please join us for a Milt Glick Discover Science Lecture, featuring Dr. Jill Tiefenthaler, Chief Executive Officer for the National Geographic Society to explore "Beyond Discovery: Where Science Meets Story." Great science can change what we know. Great storytelling can change what we do with that knowledge.
For more than 138 years, the National Geographic Society has harnessed the power of both. Chief Executive Officer Jill Tiefenthaler will reveal how National Geographic Explorers pair rigorous science with compelling storytelling to turn discovery into understanding, understanding into connection and connection into action. Drawing on stories from across the globe, she’ll share the secret to science that makes an impact: a story powerful enough to make people care.
The exploration continues after the presentation with a firechat chat between Dr. Tiefenthaler and University of Nevada, Reno, National Geographic Explorers Dr. Julie Loisel (from the College of Science) and Dr. Sandhya Narayanan (from the College of Liberal Arts).
The talk will take place in the Harlan O & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall in the University Foundation Arts Building.
Complimentary parking is available in Whalen Parking Complex.
