This opening reception kicks off Diane Matyas’ five week residency (Nov 4-Dec 15, closed Thanksgiving weekend unless by private reservation) at Art on the Block NYC, 107 West 86th Street, at Columbus Avenue. This public facing residency and exhibition will include a series of public artmaking workshops focused on the artist’s experiments with narrative shadow puppet theatre. A crankie theatre and recent puppetry work, coupled with drawings from her Luna Park Elephant, Submerged, Bear or Man and Merfolk projects- which include her trademark manmade vs natural world narratives-will be included as she uses the accessible space as a studio.
