About this Event
Día de Muertos is a Mexican tradition that honours the lives of those who have died through stories, colour, food, flowers and remembrance. In this welcoming workshop, we'll explore the meaning and traditions behind the celebration before coming together to create a shared ofrenda (altar), offering a space to remember the people we miss and celebrate the love that continues after loss.
You're invited to bring a photograph or small memento of someone you'd like to remember, although this is entirely optional. Together we'll reflect on the importance of ritual, creativity and community, discovering how traditions from different cultures can offer meaningful ways to live alongside grief.
This project is part of the Seasons of Culture Programme funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Council through the Leeds Cultural Investment Programme.
