Destroy Memphis – Independent Film Screening

What happens when a city decides that a beloved piece of its history is disposable?
Destroy Memphis, a documentary by underground filmmaker Mike McCarthy, tells the story of a grassroots battle to save Libertyland, a historic Memphis amusement park, and the legendary Zippin Pippin roller coaster — a favorite of Elvis Presley.
At the center of the fight are a local politician, an all-girl rock band, and a determined group of residents taking on bureaucracy, competing interests, and the forces of redevelopment.
Part punk rock documentary, part political comedy, and part love letter to a disappearing piece of American culture, Destroy Memphis is a story about community, corruption, preservation, and the people who refuse to let their history be erased.
It's funny, frustrating, fiercely independent, and a reminder that the places we love are worth fighting for.
Barrel Proof Lounge is proud to host this special screening in Downtown Santa Rosa. Come support independent filmmaking and a story that hits close to home for anyone who believes local art, music, and culture matter.
