Explore colours, textures and materials as you create your own miniature sensory space from 2D to 3D !
About this Event

In this workshop we will explore 2D collage and mixed media design of a space that is personal to us and later transformed into a 3D box. We will begin by giving an example of our own to demonstrate. Children then take a flattened opened cardboard box each that they can decorate, draw on and explore collage or a combination of both. We invite the children to reflect about their favourite colours, textures and elements to create their own sensory space that they enjoy being in using the plethora of materials available to them - it could be pipe cleaners, multi-coloured tissue paper and cardboard or playdough, to name a few.

Playfulness is encouraged and curiosity without pressure of producing a completely finished product. Children can always take the box home with them to complete it whenever they want or they can share their work with others at the end should they wish to.

This workshop is part of Neurodiversity Ready: H&F Initiative

Please Note:

For ages 5-11

This is a family workshop, not a drop-off activity. A responsible parent/carer must remain with and supervise their child throughout the session and work with them, parents and carers will also get a box if they wish to make their own box too.

The space allows for one parent/carer per child. Please list the name and details of the parent/carer attending with the child on the question's information at check out.

Feel free to contact the facilitators Luisa at [email protected] or Alan at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Additionally 2 volunteers will be present on the day to help deliver the workshop.
