Deschutes South Canyon Green Space Report

Join us in person for an exciting dive into the community, environmental and ecological values of the Deschutes South Canyon -- Bend's last large undeveloped property on the Deschutes River!

In 2024, Save Bend Green Space (SBGS) embarked on an ambitious research project, to create an evaluation framework to rate the natural resources, recreational opportunities, and ecological functions of properties in Bend slated for development. In consultation with City of Bend Planning staff, SBGS selected five Opportunity and Expansion Areas for evaluation with the first being the Deschutes South Canyon. The goal is to give the City and developers a more thorough understanding and appreciation of an individual property’s green value in order to inform future land use planning and conservation decisions.

This event is for everyone interested in the green spaces in Bend that connect people with nature and each other.
