🎬 COMMUNITY SCREENING
During segregation, it became a community that built its own schools, churches, businesses, institutions, and leadership networks. It was a place where Black families created opportunity, nurtured future leaders, supported one another, and helped shape the social and political life of San Antonio’s East Side.
Through the voices of the people who lived it, Denver Heights: The Heart of the Eastside tells the story of a neighborhood that too often goes overlooked, even as its influence continues to be felt across the city.
The film features firsthand reflections from community elders, historians, civic leaders, educators, and longtime residents, including
- Mario Salas
- Odie Davis III
- Dr. Charles Gentry
- Charles Williams
- Gloria Ray
- Ernest “Coach Q” Qadimasil
- And more
This film was produced by: Aundar Ma'at and directed by: Born Logic Allah, the founders of and was a passion project for executive producer: Frank Dunn who grew in the Denver Heights.
