The Delius Singers are delighted to be teaming up with ChamberMusicBox for a concert of two works that are closely connected with wartime experiences. Messian's Quartet for the End of Time was written whilst the composer was interred in a prisoner of war camp during the Second World War. The deeply profound prayers of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, written whilst he was imprisoned by the Gestapo during the Second World War, are used by Philip Moore to create a beautiful meditation on hope in the midst of despair.ChamberMusicBox are a London-based ensemble consisting of some of the finest instrumentalists on the orchestral circuit, who share a love of chamber music. They are resident at St Cuthbert's Church in Earl's Court, where they regularly perform engaging concerts that delight audiences with their variety, skill, and musicality.
