Join host Bob Barnes and special guest Frank Gilman for October’s edition of Dead Rekordings as they throw a joint birthday celebration honoring two essential figures in the Grateful Dead universe: founding rhythm guitarist Bob Weir and guitar virtuoso John Mayer.With both artists' birthdays coinciding on October 16th, Bob and Frank are opening up the soundboard vaults for a deep dive through the generations. The show kicks off with classic Grateful Dead recordings featuring Bob Weir’s foundational work, before expanding into high-voltage live cuts from both Dead & Company and Bob Weir & Wolf Bros.

The Grateful Dead Foundation: Opening the night with essential Grateful Dead tracks that established Bobby's rhythm mastery on signature tunes like "Cassidy," "Jack Straw," and "Estimated Prophet."
Mayer in the Zone: Shifting to Dead & Company soundboards where Mayer takes the wheel on iconic Jerry Garcia passages in tracks like "Althea," "Sugaree," and "Morning Dew," backed by Weir’s steady comping.
Wolf Bros & Beyond: Live, stripped-back cuts and expanded arrangements from Wolf Bros and Dead & Co sets that showcase how these two eras of musicianship lock in and elevate the catalog.

The Listyning Room is located in the nbkc building at 3510 W. 95th Street, Leawood, KS 66206. This is the north side of Ranch Mart, and there is plenty of parking for everyone next to the building.
