Chicago radio DJs helped shape an entire generation of house DJs, and few had a bigger hand in that than Mike “Hitman” Wilson. From the legendary Hot Mix 5 on WBMX to the B96 Mixmasters, Mike helped define the sound that traveled from Chicago airwaves to dance floors around the world. His influence extends well beyond the radio, with decades of production and remix work, including two Billboard #1 Dance hits. In 2024, his hometown of Aurora, Illinois, honored his contributions to music by renaming a portion of Lily Street “Mike ‘Hitman’ Wilson Way.” For those of us who grew up listening to Chicago radio and were influenced by the DJs behind those mixes, it’s an honor to welcome Mike to DayFunk!
