Train ride to the Broadway Street Fair, 11:15AM Saturday, October 10, 2026!The Old Colony & Newport Railway is excited to announce our next “Day Tripper” excursion train from Melville, Portsmouth, RI to Newport, RI! The train will depart the station located at 2 Alexander Road, Portsmouth, RI at 11:15AM and head south to Newport for a 12:15PM arrival just in time for the start of the Broadway Street Fair! The train will bring riders to the station located at 19 America’s Cup Ave., Newport which is just a half mile, 5 minute walk away from the event at Washington Square. Upon arrival at Newport there will be a three and 1/2 hour layover to enjoy the event, shops, and restaurants located a short walking distance from the train station. At 3:45PM sharp the train will depart northbound for the return trip to your vehicles at Portsmouth, RI. The train will arrive at Melville at 4:45PM. Passengers will ride in a Budd Rail Diesel car built in the 1950's with views of Narragansett Bay along the west side of Aquidneck Island. This is a great way to relax on your way to and from Newport without the hassle of traffic and parking!
Train Schedule:
-Depart Melville, Portsmouth, RI Station 11:15AM
-Arrive Newport Station 12:15PM
-Three and 1/2 hour layover-
Return trip:
-Depart Newport 3:45PM
-Arrive Melville, Portsmouth, RI 4:45PM
Ticket price is $10 each for both adults and children. We are accepting cash and checks before boarding in Melville. For the return trip passengers will have to present their ticket to the conductor before boarding.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure. The train will be strictly adhering to the advertised times in an effort to stay on schedule. Parking is available at the Grand Bellevue Dinner Train lot located at 2 Alexander Road, Portsmouth, RI.
